In 2008 the cricket charity Lord's Taverners launched their Centurions Award for children, which is awarded to any youth player who scores a hundred.
Our very own Laura Tonks, aged 14, is to receive one of these awards in a ceremony at the club on Thursday, 2nd July. Laura scored 116 not out against Charlbury Ladies earlier this year and is the first girl in the whole UK to be awarded this accolade.
So on Thursday, Rachel Heyhoe-Flint, former England Ladies captain, will be at the club with representatives from the Lord's Taverners to present Laura with her award. In addition, we hope to have an official opening of the new ground.
There will be reporters from the local newspapers, TV and radio to see the presentation. Everyone is welcome - in fact the more the merrier as we want to not only show our appreciation for Laura's hard work at her game in getting this award, but this is also a great opportunity to show off our club to the world.
The event will start at 4.00pm with a training session for the Womens team members, followed by the presentation and ground opening ceremony. There will be a buffet for the club committee members and guests afterwards.
If you can get down to the ground on Thursday, please do so. If you can wear a Burton Latimer top or cap as well, that would be great.
